The report from Holliday
Landing (573-224-3430) is that the smallmouth run in the river is in full swing.
Crawdad crankbaits or jigs produce good catches as they are retrieved up against
the rock walls in the outside bends of the river. Most other fishing is for
crappie out on the old channel at the 12-foot depth. There will still be a few
white bass fishermen but they will be concentrating their efforts in the Blue
Springs area, where the whites spend the winter. There will also be some walleye
coming from this same area as this fishery is developing. Be sure to check the
regulations for this species.
